HIGHCARE project - Meteorological and biometeorological forecasting maps produced by the WRF model
This is a meteorological and biometeorological forecasting service (ie for assessing the impact of weather on human health) by the WRF model developed by the Interdepartmental Center for Bioclimatology University of Florence (CIBIC).
The service is expected, particularly in the Everest area, but also for other peaks and other Himalayan locations that will be touched during the expedition, to provide through biometeorological and weather maps, the situation of a remote and little monitored area of the planet, as the Himalayan area.
The forecasts are hourly, up to 5 days, and also allow to konow the weather situation at different altitudes.
This informations represent a valid and useful instrument to carry out activities in remote areas of the planet and a crucial and often decisive tool to reach the summit of the highest peaks of the Earth.
These forecasts will be at a later stage (at the end of our trip), validated also with monitoring provided on site during the shipment, as we planned to install a station on the Everest base camp and to carry out a series of meteorological measures during the various stages to reach the base camp.
